Is Someone Pulling Your Leg?: Sciatica, Chiropractic and Cold Laser Therapy

Your sciatic nerve is the longest and largest nerve in your body. It begins in your lower back as five smaller nerves joining together and extends to your pelvis, thigh, knee, calf, ankle, foot and toes. When this large nerve becomes inflamed the condition is called sciatica and the pain can be intense! There may be burning, prickling, and other sensations along the path of the nerve. Ironically, the leg may also feel numb!

The medical approach to sciatica is usually to treat its symptoms with painkillers, muscle relaxers and orthopedic procedures such as traction, physical therapy and surgery in extreme cases. Sciatica is particularly frustrating to treat with drugs because in many cases even strong painkillers bring little or no relief.

Vertebral subluxations (spinal nerve root irritation caused by spinal misalignment) can be directly related to sciatica. Chiropractors remove subluxations to relieve sciatic pain. Many sciatica sufferers have experienced dramatic relief after chiropractic care, and have found that chiropractic is superior to medical treatments.

The LazrPulsr® 'cold' laser has protocols which also address sciatica and related issues.  Chiropractic care and laser treatments are the best solution to any nerve pain problems, and there are no side effects!

Should "The Biggest Loser" Add Cold Laser Therapy?

When we are born, almost all of us have a weight-control mechanism built in. This “weight thermostat” helps our body maintain what it determines to be the ideal weight for our circumstances.

Most of us remember a time in our life, usually into early adulthood, when we could eat whatever we wanted and not gain weight.  Our bodies desired only enough food for our needs and craved activity.

Economic and environmental changes, as well as chemicals in our diet caused our “weight thermostat” to be reset, and we began to get fat.

Dr. Gerry Graham III has developed a program called Trim Health®, using the LazrPulsr® 'cold' laser, which re-programs our system to the appropriate weight for our circumstances, resulting in a decrease for most people.  This change occurs through a lessened desire to overeat and an increased need for physical exertion.

Cold Laser Therapy might just be the necessary addition to 'The Biggest Loser' program to help contestants take off the weight and keep it off permanently.

Statins and Cardiovascular Disease: Not as Protective as We're Led to Believe

I found this article very interesting. Dr. Seaman has been very thorough in collecting his supporting data and presenting it logically.

The statin drugs, used to reduce cholesterol, are of little benefit in reducing heart disease, and a connection between cholesterol levels and heart disease is tenuous at best, so taking statins for this purpose is not helpful. However, as a number of my patients have discovered, the statin drugs DO cause back and neck, and other body pain. Is it really worth taking an ineffective drug just to increase your pain levels.

As I always tell my patients: there are definitely times where medications are beneficial and necessary, however, if the same effect can be achieved without putting an additional poison into your body, isn't it worth pursuing that avenue first? The natural treatments provided by chiropractic care and cold-laser therapy are safer and usually as effective as the more invasive methods in helping you be more healthy and pain-free.
